Competitor Guidelines

  1. There is no fee for entering any static model.
  2. Hobbyists can enter as many static models as they wish, however only one model can be entered in each category.
  3. Registration for all static models is
    • 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM on Thursday, April 3rd
    • 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM on Friday, April 4th, and 7:00 AM – 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 5th.
  4. All models must be complete and operational and must have power plants (engines, motors, rubber-band powered) installed with the exception of gliders, sailplanes and rockets.
  5. Aircraft is defined as any model that flies.
  6. All models must remain until the conclusion of the awards ceremony (Saturday afternoon).
  7. All models will be on display in a sanctioned, view-only area, and at night the entire convention hall will be guarded and locked. The Toledo R/C Swap & EXPO – 2025 accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to entries. The hold-harmless agreement must be signed before entry will be accepted.
  8. All models entered into competition will be judged for Best Finish, 2nd – 5th Place, and the Joe David Best of Show.
  9. First place winners in each category will receive a plaque.
  10. Cash prizes are as follows: (1) 2nd – 5th Place = $50, (2) Best Finish = $100, and (3) David Best of Show = $200
  11. Any builder who wishes to have lights, doors, or other electronic components of their static model working (on) for judging, must do so by 5:00 PM, Friday. The judges will judge those specific airplanes first, and the builder will be invited to come back into the staging area and shut their electrical components off once the judging is complete.
  12. .Judging will be completed by 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 11th. Judge’s decisions are final.
  13. All models must be removed by 4:00 PM, Saturday, April 11th.
  14. Contestants are not granted free admission during regular show hours, except on Saturday, April 5th, after 2:00 PM, and they must show their model claim ticket to the static model display attendant.
